North Whatcom Fire & Rescue
North Whatcom Fire and Rescue (NWFR) provides fire protection, fire safety, and EMT-certified basic life support services to the residents of Blaine, who voted to annex into the fire district in 2006. Fire district services are paid for through the real estate property taxes of each property owner in the district. North Whatcom is an independent unit of county government with its own Chief and staff governed by a Board of Commissioners.
About the Staff
North Whatcom maintains 2 staffed fire stations in Blaine: 1 on O'Dell Road and 1 on Semiahmoo Parkway. Blaine Public Safety works closely with NWFRS on several processes vital to protecting the safety of our residents. Police officers routinely respond to emergency fire and medical calls within the city to support fire and EMS efforts.
Advanced Life Support Services
Advanced Life Support services are provided by Whatcom Medic One, a division of the Bellingham Fire Department.
